It is a crumb sedimentary rock, which consists mainly of quartz particles bound together with a clay binder. It comes in many colors, including various shades of gray, yellow, brown, red. The individual parts of the stone have a different composition, and thus the properties, such as frost resistance, hardness, and color. Sandstone is used both as a building and finishing material. The granular structure does not allow sandstone to be polished, but its good cleavage makes most types a very good material for facades, fireplaces, wall cladding and window sills. Wet sandstone is brittle and soft and therefore easy to work with. After drying, it hardens significantly. This stone is absorbent and very porous, therefore it is not very resistant to stains and dirt. Therefore, it is not found in the kitchen and bathroom.
